Run for the Cure

Thank you to everyone who supported the Run for the Cure!  We had a team of over 100 participating in the run this past weekend.  Our team won the Friends & Family Award again this year as the top fundraising team and our team leader, Nicole Kennedy, received the Determination Award! Over the last 4 years, the Perfect Storm team has now raised over $53,000 towards breast cancer research.

Gym Closure

No regular team practices or tumbling classes Friday, October 5 – Sunday, October 7 for Thanksgiving.  The gym is open as usual on Monday, October 8 for private lessons, tumbling classes, and cheer practices.

Weekly Tumbling Tip

Active warm-ups before tumbling of any kind is one of THE MOST important things an athlete can do.  

Static stretching, though proven to avoid injury, is not enough to make sure that the human body is prepared for the fast twitching and explosive activity the body will endure while attempting to tumble.  

Training our muscles to move the way we want to ensure a safe and proper execution of any skill will decrease the likelihood of any injury tremendously.

Nutritional Class – MOVED

Due to the travel meetings, our Nutrition class has been moved to November 25th at 6:30pm.  This class will contain information pertaining to fueling our athletes properly to keep them happy, healthy and successful.  Coming up to the winter seasons this information will be VERY important to make sure that we are all performing at tip top shape

 

Open Gym this week

Open Gym is this Friday 6:30 – 8:30.  Saturday open gyms will not be available due to gym closure.  

 

Reminders…

– Athletes under the age of 7 require parental supervision at open gym.  This is non negotiable. 

-Please put ALL FOOTWARE on shelves provided by the front door
– Please respect our family room.  This means cleaning up after all activities you are your children may be involved in (eating, working etc)  
– NO NAILS! Please keep all finger nails at a safe length.  This includes fake nails
